DJ’s and more Details TBA
Is this a Festival?
PEX Costa Rica is not a festival. This is a series of intimate events over the week at various venues and natural locations in and near Ojochal and Uvita Costa Rica.
Wristbands: Each person will need to purchase a wristband, they are $150 and include access to the Mandala Ojochal property for events (if you are staying somewhere else) all DJ events, Daily yoga classes, ceremonies and a beachside barbecue dinner at Villa Leonor. (More info will be released as we confirm other venues and details) All of the yoga classes, sunset ceremony and daytime pool parties will be at Mandala Ojochal Boutique Resort and Retreat Center. We will also have free shuttles arranged from Mandala Ojochal to off site events.
WRISTBAND DOES NOT INCLUDE LODGING OR SHUTTLES TO/FROM SAN JOSE.
FLIGHTS
You will be looking for flights to San Jose, Costa Rica. (SJO) The airport is officially called the “Juan Santamaría International Airport.”
Depart 3/6 or 3/7 and Return 3/14 0r 3/15.
You will want to fly to SJO on Friday 3/6 and spend the night in SJO or Saturday 3/7 and arrive before 2:30pm if possible to catch the shuttle. (You can always rent a car and come on your own schedule)
The best flight from the Northeast US is United Airlines nonstop from Newark (EWR) to SJO. There are also Non-Stops from Houston, Miami, Atlanta, LAX and SFO and sometimes DC (Dulles or BWI) We suggest not booking flights on the discount airlines such as Spirit, Jet Blue etc as they frequently have delays and charge you for everything so in the end they cost the same as United, American or Delta.
LOCATION
The event will be centered in the Southern Pacific Zone near Uvita and Ojochal. This area is a 3.5 hour drive from SJO. So you will want to take a shuttle, rent a car or take a puddle jumper flight. Renting a car with a group of friends is a great idea. Or take the Shuttle and rent a car in Uvita. (easiest)
MANDALA OJOCHAL
Mandala Ojochal is a Boutique Resort and Retreat Center, All of the rooms at Mandala are currently sold out.
But there are lots of local options: Here are some local Ojochal Airbnbs that are available:
And here are some local Ojochal hotels:
Glamping property next door to Mandala called El Pulpo Safari Lodge.
You can also search Airbnbs and Hotels in nearby Uvita, Costa Rica (about 20 minutes away from Mandala)
SHUTTLES
We will have three shuttles from SJO to Uvita on 3/7 and two returning on 3/14. $50 PP each way.
3/7 10:30am for people who arrived the day/night before and stayed in SJO.
3/7 2:30pm for flights arriving before 1
3/7 4:00pm for flights arriving after 1
Return to Airport
3/14 6:00am for flights leaving after 12pm
3/14 10:00am for flights leaving after 5pm on 3/14 or on 3/15 (there can be beach traffic on Sundays)
Please give yourself 6 hours from shuttle departure time to flight departure time.
A good rule of thumb can be to book your flight back to the States for Sunday 3/15 and stay in San Jose near the airport on 3/14.
CAR RENTALS
RESERVE A CAR BY JANUARY IF YOU WANT ONE. March is a busy time of year and car rentals can rent out quickly. Now is the time to book them.
Our best advice on renting a car is to search for cars on Travelocity or whatever big site you use. Once you identify the car agency that has the car available for your dates that you want, go directly to their Costa Rican site and book directly with them. When doing that buy the additional minimum insurance directly from their site. That way they are forced to honor that price. Whereas sometimes when you book through a third party site they add on the extra insurance at high rates and do not honor any pre-purchased third party insurance.
Here are also some direct links to local car rental agencies. The SJO Airport is located in Alajuela, Costa Rica. So make sure your rental location says Alajuela or SJO Airport.

If you want to take a shuttle or other means to get to the Southern Pacific Zone and rent a car in Uvita you could do that. Reserve asap.
Car Rental sites in Uvita are:
Alamo
Enterprise
National
PUDDLE JUMPER FLIGHT
The fastest option is to take a second puddle jumper flight from SJO to XQP (Quepos) About $100pp each way. Quepos is one hour north on the coast from Uvita/Ojochal. If you need a taxi from there, they average $80. We recommend Carlos at WhatsApp 506 8501 0497. (there are also car rentals in Quepos)
If you have more questions (and you will) please ask them publicly on the Facebook event site. Most likely someone else has the same question as you.
Thank you and we really look forward to seeing you in paradise!!!
